The John Stark Generals Football & Cheerleading still has room for more athletes!

For those entering grades 1-8 in the Fall of 2012 an additional Sign-up/Informational Meeting is being held on May 16th, 2012 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the Old Town Hall in Weare. Surrounding towns invited to attend! Goffstown...Dunbarton...Hillsboro...Deering...Washington...etc.

•Weare Sign-Ups will be on 02/22/12 at The Old Town Hall from 6 pm to 8 pm.
•Henniker Sign-Ups will be on 02/23/12 at The Grange (next to Town Library) from 6 pm to 8 pm.

]]> Board News JenOesterreich Tue, 01 Nov 2011 23:22:16 -0700 http://www.jsgfa.com/news.php?item.72.5 CONCUSSION TESTING FOR ATHLETES 10+ http://www.jsgfa.com/news.php?item.70.2 The JSGFCA Board voted that all Players/cheerleaders that will be age 10 or over (before July 13th/July 19th) will be required to do Concussion Testing. JSGFCA has decided to be ahead of the curve in Youth Football and start a Concussion Testing Program for our players. The program has been in effect at the High School for 2 years already and it has proved to be an invaluable asset. There is no cost to the parent for the athlete to be tested...if the athlete is determined to have a Concussion he/she will be asked to re-take the test....again at no cost to the parent....this is all covered by your registration fees and paid by JSGFCA. All athletes need to have their baseline test done on the dates provided without exception....or they will not be allowed to practice.


The test is on a computer and the questions are like do you see a box inside a circle, tests their reaction time as objects go across the screen and things of that nature.

A concussion is not something that can be seen on an xray, however can be indicated through this testing and will help your athlete return to play in the safest way possible. Concussions need time to heal to prevent what is called "Second Impact Syndrome."

You will see the two dates on the July schedule are July 13th and July 19th. The High School is allowing us to use their computers so that we can have 20 players/cheerleaders take the test at the same time for efficiency. They will be held in the evening hours and will be scheduled by appoitnment only. Contact Jen Oesterreich at Email Address Link or 603-289-7932 to schedule for your child.

The dates will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are late to the testing, you will need to reschedule per the Athletic Director. If there is open slot at the next testing slot time, we will inform you of this and you will need to wait until that group starts.
